From recruit to Head Instructor, my service in the Singapore Armed Forces shaped who I am today — through challenge, leadership, and trust.
Oct 2022 – Dec 2022
Completed foundational training focused on physical resilience, military discipline, and mental endurance. Learned essential soldiering skills through intense drills, teamwork, and daily regimentation. This chapter built the base for everything that followed.
Dec 2022 – Feb 2023
Trained in urban combat, CBR defense, and live-fire drills with weapons like the M203 grenade launcher. Built tactical awareness and adaptability under pressure, laying the foundation for operational confidence.
Feb 2023 – Jul 2023
Assigned to the Military Working Dog Unit. Trained dogs in obedience, bite work, and guard protocols to enhance base and operational security. Managed their daily care and built unique bonds built on trust, responsibility, and consistency.
Jul 2023 – Nov 2023
Stepped into a leadership role, guiding Dog Handler Trainees through hands-on exercises in obedience, detection, and safety. Strengthened communication and teamwork while upholding high instructional standards.
Nov 2023 – Sep 2024
Promoted to the SAF’s highest enlistee rank for outstanding contributions. Led the Dog Handler Course and a team of instructors, planning and executing training aligned to SAF standards. Represented the unit during international demonstrations for delegations including the U.S. and Australian Army. Awarded Best Soldier of the Month in July 2024.
“Serving in the Military Working Dog Unit taught me more than discipline — it gave me a deep sense of trust, resilience, and the weight of leadership.”
My military journey reshaped who I am. It taught me to lead with calm under pressure, to build trust in silence, and to find pride in responsibility. From trainee to instructor, from handler to leader — I grew not just in rank, but in character.
